More MerDer Next Grey’s Anatomy Season, Less Gizzie

ImageLet us all breathe a heavy sigh of relief and excitement at the prospect of happy MerDer scenes to come. Well, I don’t know about happy. But definitely more MerDer is on the horizon and though the couple has had its fair share of drama since day one, I do think they’re headed to a happy place eventually.

“I want to be clear that Derek loves Meredith,” Rhimes told TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello. “Derek loves Meredith [Ellen Pompeo] more than anything and I can’t imagine Derek going anyplace else other than Meredith.”

And on Izzie and George?

“A lot of people aren’t sold on Izzie and George,” Rhimes told Ausiello. “I think the mistake that everyone makes is that we are telling you Izzie and George are the love story of the century; they’re not the love story of the century. And when other people find out about Izzie and George — remember, people don’t know about them yet — other people might think that’s not a good idea either.”

I’m okay with Gizzie, but the fact that George is cheating on Callie makes the entire thing wrong. Let’s hope the whole mess gets sorted nicely next season and we can move on to happy times.

I’m really looking forward to next season. Only one more week to go.

Katherine Heigl Tells Ellen DeGeneres About Her Surprise At Winning the Emmy

Mathew Imaging / FilmmagicDuring her acceptance speech on Sunday, Katherine Heigl reveiled that her own mother told her she “didn’t have a chance in hell” of winning. On Tuesday, Heigl phoned into the Ellen DeGeneres Show to talk to Ellen about the win and her surprise at going home with the highly coveted award.

Heigl, 29, phoned into the Ellen DeGeneres show on Tuesday to say her mother told her: “This year, you know, with The Sopranos women being nominated and it being their last year of the show, I really think they’re going to win – so I don’t want you to be disappointed if you don’t.”

The Sopranos stars Lorraine Bracco and Aida Turturro were up for the honor this year, as were Grey’s costars Sandra Oh and Chandra Wilson, and Brothers and Sisters actress Rachel Griffiths.

Heigl, who originally announced while accepting the award Sunday that her mother didn’t think she’d win, told DeGeneres that her mom did say: “I love you and you’re always a winner.”

Patrick Dempsey Vacations in Britain

ImagePatrick Dempsey took his family to the UK on vacation, after wrapping up filming his upcoming romantic comedy, Man of Honor (set in Scotland). The holiday was a wet one, being that it rained constantly during his stay. But Patrick Dempsey didn’t seem to mind.

He says, “I love the rain and we got to shoot in beautiful castles in the countryside. “We got to explore London - go to museums, sightseeing and the musicals. “I also had an opportunity to see the British Grand Prix and the Tour de France (cycling race). It was a nice holiday.” And now Maine native Dempsey is thinking about buying a place in Britain: “I thought about getting a place in the countryside in England. I could really see myself living there.”

So any British fans, keep your eyes peeled for sightings of McDreamy. It seems possible that the actor and his family will spend some time abroad.

ABC and TV Guide Give Away Grey’s Anatomy Hospital Gown to Fans

ImageHere’s something that might interest a lot of you. The September 24th issue of TV Guide will be polybagged to include a free life-sized hospital gown as a promotional tool. This unique piece of merchandise will hopefully remind viewers to tune in to ABC and catch the season premiers.

“We love providing viewers with unexpected and unique marketing campaigns that are organic to our programming,” said Michael Benson, executive vice president, Marketing, ABC Entertainment. “This is a great opportunity and a fun way to get viewers excited about the return of ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ and TV Guide is the perfect place for it,” added Marla Provencio, executive vice president, Marketing, ABC Entertainment.

“As ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ is one of the most popular shows on television, we are delighted that ABC chose to partner with us for this unique promotion in celebration of the new season,” said Pete Haeffner, publisher, TV Guide.

Now, the article says that these will be “mailed to subscribers in New York and Los Angeles” so I’m guessing hospital gowns won’t be available for the whole of the US. If anyone has any more info, let me know.

Grey’s Anatomy Actors Join GLAAD’s Anti-Gay Slur Campaign

Kate Walsh, T.R. Knight, and Sara Ramirez are all appearing in ads by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. GLAAD’s ads were released this week featuring 25 different actors, three of which are from Grey’s Anatomy’s main cast. One of which, Alexandra Billings, was a guest star on the show.

Here’s one of the ad’s I’ve found, featuring T.R. Knight, and other great actors such as Rachel Griffiths and Marlee Matlin.

Behind the Scenes of Private Practice

Image

Well, we Grey’s Anatomy fans have two shows to look foward to this upcoming fall season. Admittedly, the Private Practice pilot left a lot to be desired, but the word around the Internets from critics is that the show is definitely Must-See. So I’m planning to give it a second shot. Not that I wouldn’t have anyway. I love Addison. I just wish she hadn’t left.

All the same, she’s left, gotten her own spin-off, and Entertainment Weekly has gone behind the scenes of Private Practice to talk to Kate Walsh and Shonda Rhimes and discuss the awesomeness that is Addison and the actress that plays her.

That’s three full pages of goodness for you Kate/Addison addicts.

Check it out at EW.com.

Patrick Dempsey On Grey’s Without Isaiah Washington

ImageIf any of you were wondering how life on the Grey’s set is going without Isaiah, Patrick Dempsey provides some insight:

“It’s a lot lighter, people are having more fun.The energy and the adjustments make a big difference,” he says, referring to the departure of Isaiah Washington after an on-set altercation between the stars last season.Definitely pumped to be back at Seattle Grace, he declares, “I’m going to go save some lives again!”

Well “fun” seems to be the general theme of season 4. I’m all for it. Bring on the fun!

Grey’s Anatomy News Bites

Image

Grey’s Anatomy is all over the place so let me make your web search easier by linking you here to some info you might find interesting:

  • For those of you big Ellen Pompeo fans who can’t get enough news of the Grey’s Anatomy actress, Telegraph.co.uk has a really long (three page) article all about Ellen Pompeo.
  • This article isn’t really about Grey’s Anatomy, but there’s a brief mention of T.R. Knight supposedly dating Luke MacFarlane (Brothers & Sisters), who’s now Wentworth Miller’s rumored boyfriend (hottie from Prison Break).
  • The New York Times tells us that editors and writers alike are cheering on the ABC line-up for next season. “I think if you liked ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ you’re going to love ‘Private Practice,’ ” gushes Alynda Wheat, a senior writer at Entertainment Weekly, in one of the shows. Well I’m certainly planning to overlook the pilot for that show and give it another shot.
  • This is somewhat old-ish news but, Katherine Heigl has started a production company right along with her manage/mother, Nancy Heigl. The first project is an action-comedy. They’re currently hiring writers!
  • Eric Dane tells us that his wife has excellent breath, and her secret is …. ten cups of coffee a day?
  • Lots of info popping up about Kate Walsh’s wedding. Access Hollywood even includes a first look video at Private Practice. Worth checking out!

That’s it for today’s news bites. Keep tuning in for more on Grey’s Anatomy.

Coming Up On Grey’s Anatomy Season 4

Image

When we left off, Burke had left Cristina at the altar. Poor George had failed his exam. Izzie admitted her love for George, and Meredith and McDreamy’s relationship seemed over.

Now what?

Well, Addison has moved on from Seattle Grace. Meredith’s sister is now in the picture. A new group of interns is coming in to mix things up. The George/Callie/Izzie love triangle will surely add some tension. Burke is out. Callie beat Bailey to the chief resident job, and I’m sure Bailey won’t be happy about that. McDreamy and McSteamy will be rekindling their friendship. Cristina returns from her honeymoon with Meredith (hehe). And Eva returns!

According to executive producer/writer Krista Vernoff, “We had a pretty heavy season last year. We feel like we’ve earned the right to get back to light and fun.”

I know a lot of people have lost heart after the events of Season 3 and I’m sure the fanbase has suffered some from it, but I’m really looking forward to Season 4. The promises of “sexual antics and humor” that made the show so amazing are giving me hope.

So what are you most looking forward to in Season 4?

Kate Walsh Wedding Photos

Image

Kate Walsh got married on Saturday to movie executive Alex Young. The wedding took place a little north of Los Angeles, and he reception was held at Ojai Valley Inn & Spa’s Casa Elar.

Of course, it wouldn’t have been a proper wedding without inviting some other Grey’s Anatomy actors. Guests from the show included Katherine Heigl and fiance Josh Kelley, Chandra Wilson, Sara Ramirez, and Justin Chambers. Shonda Rhimes was also present. I wonder where the rest of the gang was?

Private Practice’s Kate Walsh Ties the Knot

070831katewalshealex_blog.jpg
Kate Walsh and Alex Young by Jeffrey Mayer/WireImage.com

Kate Walsh traded her television scrubs for a custom-made Monique Lhuillier gown on September 1 for her wedding to 20th Century Fox studio executive Alex Young. The couple exchanged vows at the Ojai Presbyterian Church before approximately 100 guests including Walsh’s Grey’s Anatomy stars Sara Ramirez, Katherine Heigl, Chandra Wilson and Justin Chambers, as well as actress Kate Beckinsale.

Following the ceremony, guests made their way to the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa for a reception orchestrated by celebrity wedding coordinator Jo Gartin of Love Luck and Angels. The site of the festivities was Casa Elar, which opens into a two-story rotunda with circular stairs leading to master suites with fireplaces and covered porches. A rooftop garden offers expansive views of the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa’s golf course and the Topa Topa Mountains. The lawn is idyllic with fountains and a wrought iron gazebo intertwined by roses.

The area is prime for catching the sunset against the Topa Topa Mountains. Later, the view changed as hundreds of candles set the scene for a sit-down dinner in honor of the newlyweds. —Reporting by Bekah Wright

Patrick Dempsey Shares His Love of Racing With His Family

ImageIn this week’s issue of People, Patrick Dempsey discusses how he shares his love of car racing with his happy family.

Patrick talks about bringing his kids, daughter Talula, 5, and sons Darby and Sullivan, 7 months, to the race track whenever he can. Patrick said, “It’s a family sport. We bring them along when we can. And when were away from them, we miss them.”

Already, Talula has been riding in her daddy’s Porsche. So I imagine it won’t be very long before she starts wanting behind the wheel.

A family of car racers? Hehe.

Sara Ramirez Shares Her Recipes

ImageThe awesome Sara Ramirez has shared with CNN a couple of her favorite recipes.

I’ll post them here, and someone can tell me if they try making it. If I tried it, I’d probably burn down the apartment, so for the sake of the people in my building, I’ve decided never to cook again.

Key Lime Pie — serves 8

2 cups graham cracker crumbs

½ cup sugar, plus 2 tbsp, divided

4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

4 egg yolks

1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk

½ cup fresh key lime juice or regular lime juice

¾ cup chilled heavy cream

Sliced limes for garnish

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine graham cracker crumbs, ½ cup sugar and butter. Press mixture over bottom and up sides of 9-inch glass pie plate. Bake crust in middle of oven for 10 minutes; let cool.

Whisk together egg yolks, condensed milk and lime juice. Pour mixture into crust. Place on baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes, or until center is set. Cool on wire rack for 1 hour. Refrigerate 4 hours or overnight.

In medium bowl beat cream until frothy. Add 2 tbsp sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form. Spread over pie and garnish with lime slices.

Grey’s Anatomy Wins 2007 Teen Choice Award

ImageGrey’s Anatomy was among the winners during this year’s Teen Choice Awards. The TV show took home a prize for its only nominated category under best drama show.

Katherine Heigl didn’t win in the category of best comedy actress, but Knocked Up did win best comedy movie, so that’s good enough. Anyone else find it a bit ironic that Knocked Up won, while being the only R rated movie in the list? Hehe.

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Grey’s Anatomy for once again rising above the rest. :)

T.R. Knight Is Signed for the Full Season of Grey’s Anatomy

Image

It has been confirmed by E! Online that T.R. Knight has been signed for the full season, and not 12 episodes as some rumors floating around the Internets suggest.

I tell you this, because, apparently, there is a rumor floating around—which started somewhere in the mysterious ether of the World Wide Web—that T.R. only signed on for 12 episodes this season. And a handful of you have sent in panicked Q’s asking if this is true.

While the show’s official rep at ABC says she never comments on the details of actors’ contracts, an inside source close to the show tells me this is most definitely not true. I’m told T.R. has signed on for all episodes of the upcoming fourth season and that he never would have been given his recent pay hike had he only signed on for half of the episodes.

As for the storyline, you may remember that George McStupiePants (kidding! I do love him) flunked his intern exam at the end of last season, thanks to the distraction of a certain she-devil who may or may not appear in the picture above. Still, I can assure you he will find a way to stay at Seattle Grace—full time.

Source: E!Online

So George is back 100%. Good news for all :D

Star Jones Interviews Isaiah Washington

Star Jones, former cohost of The View, is set to interview Isaiah Washington for her upcoming CourtTV show.

How does this all relate to Jones’ law-themed show? ”[Washington is] clearly in the middle of a story that involves law and ethics and values and judgment,” Jones said. ”But also, he has a brand-new show that brings up ethical considerations. We’re excited about The Bionic Woman, but there are ethical considerations [there] because we in our technology right now are moving to replacing limbs, and we’re moving in the whole area of stem cell research, we’re moving in the area of cloning and whether or not it can actually be done with a human. And in reality, that’s what you’re doing with The Bionic Woman, you’re playing God. And so I get an opportunity to talk about those kinds of issues.”

So for those of you still interested in hearing what Isaiah Washington has to say about things (past, present, and future), be sure to tune in. The show airs on August 20th on CourtTV, and Isaiah will be appearing on the first episode.

Chandra Wilson in Canal Street Reading

Chandra Wilson is no stranger to Broadway, but she’s been a little busy keeping the interns of Grey’s Anatomy in line. The good news for us theater lovers in the audience is that she’s not staying too far from the stage during her time off.

In fact, come August 20th, Chandra Wilson will be appearing in a one-night reading of Josh Greenfield’s Canal Street. The reading is to take place at the Los Angeles Hayworth Theatre and comes as a part of the Bruno Kirby Celebrity Reading Series, which will be directed by Gary Blumsack.

For those of you who are interesting in attending, the show will start at 8pm, and tickets are going for as low as $10. Not a bad deal for catching Bailey live and in person. For tickets and information, please call 213-389-9860.

You can also find out more about the event at http://www.thehayworth.com.

Shonda Rhimes Promises Fun Times in Grey’s Anatomy

In what should be to most fans a great relief, Shonda Rhimes recently told the Associated Press that Grey’s Anatomy will be returning to “its fun roots”.

Yes, please!

Despite the fact that Rhimes believes that the writers went in the direction the show was meant to go, she recognizes that sometimes fans don’t agree with the creative choices of the powers that be. She does hope (naturally) that we all stick around to watch it. She blames part of the general fan unhappiness on the Isaiah Washington ugliness, but I stand by the fact that a lot of it had to do with the writing.

So what’s to come next season? Only Shonda Rhimes knows, and I doubt she’s going to tell us. But I’m all for the back to the fun roots idea, as I really miss the genius that was season one.

But there’s this to look foward to:

As for “Grey’s Anatomy,” Chyler Leigh joins the show as Meredith’s sister Lexi, a new intern Seattle Grace, but as TV Guide reports don’t expect her to fall into McDreamy’s arms. At least not immediately.

Yeah, I’m sure the fun roots will not be devoid of angst and drama. I suppose it wouldn’t be Grey’s Anatomy otherwise.

Everyone ready for next season?

I am.

ABC Receives Points For Being Gay Friendly

A recent article in Yahoo! highlights ABC as primetime’s most gay friendly network for its strides toward gay and lesbian visibility. And though they mention the Isaiah Washington’s dismissal, they make it clear that GLAAD does not count that as a plus:

More recently, producers of the ABC hit medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy” fired actor Isaiah Washington from the show in June after he reportedly made an anti-gay slur during a heated argument on the set with other cast members.

But GLAAD spokesman Damon Romine said ABC received no extra points for Washington’s dismissal.

“This is all about representations on the screen,” he said. “Our overall concern is increasing the inclusivity of the networks and having our lives be more visible.”

I’m glad, at least, that ABC isn’t getting brownie points for firing Isaiah, but congratulations to ABC on the rest.

Ellen Pompeo Talks About Young Celebs

ellen-pompeo-black-jacket

In an interview with the Los Angeles Confidential Magazine, Ellen Pompeo discusses her views on celebrities “who are rich and famous for nothing.”

“We’re so focused on the wrong things. We’re teaching young girls that this is what they should be focusing on: rich and famous girls who are rich and famous for nothing.”

In an apparent reference to coverage of Paris Hilton and her ilk, Pompeo says: “What are we doing to this younger generation? It’s not very responsible.”

Pompeo, who plays Dr. Meredith Grey on ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” also calls the media “irresponsible” for ongoing speculation that she has an eating disorder.

“I just worry about the girls who look up to me — I don’t want them to think I starve myself or don’t eat, and that to be like me that’s what they have to do,” explains the actress, who says she is naturally slender.

The article will be hitting newsstands on August 15th!

Edward Hermann to Guest Star in Grey’s Anatomy

Edward Hermann, he of Gilmore Girls fame, will be guest starring in an upcoming three episode arc next sesason, where he’ll be playing a doctor.

Wonder if he’ll still get to wear those cute bow ties and read the newspaper a lot?

Anyone else really going to miss Gilmore Girls? I’m excited that he’s going to appear in Grey’s. They should throw Lauren Graham into the mix, too. She’d make a fun patient.

Ben Vereen to Guest Star in Grey’s Anatomy Season 4

Tony Award-winner Ben Vareen will be guest starring as a patient at Seattle Grace in the second episode of the next season of Grey’s Anatomy.

“I was exposed to a fire in my apartment and I come in as a burn victim…I’m a wise, old guy who is the neighbor of a family he’s adopted who has a terrible misfortune,” said Vereen, who is currently signed for one episode on the ABC medical drama but who would be willing to do more.

For you Broadway fans out there, you might recognize Ben Vereen from such shows as Wicked, Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Chicago, and many more. Can’t wait to see him on Grey’s.

I wonder if he’ll get to sing? )
